Poor Acura. The most common search suggestion on Google when you type in “is Acura” is this:

Kinja'd!!!

For comparison, I spent 5 minutes of my not-so-precious time at work and did the same with the most common “entry-level” luxury brands and not a single one seems to have the same brand-recognition issues:

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Mercedes, with it’s semi-ambiguous name (Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes Benz, Mercedes) had some mixed results:

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

So, outside of just posting this to pick on Acura, I do see this as being a big problem for them. What do they need to do to get up to at least their Japanese contemporaries at Lexus and Infiniti?

A full sized luxury sedan....the RLX does not count. Also a sporty badge, whether it be a full blown sports car that is cheaper than the NSX or a sub brand within Acura (M, AMG, S/RS, V/V-Sport, the dead IPL, F/F-Sport)

Sorry, when were their turbo engines having problems? (hint, it was after 2005) :P

Yeah, I’ve owned three of them and they’ve all been reliable as any other car I’ve owned. /justsaying

The experience with my E46 is leaving a lot to be desired in the don’t-have-to-fuck-with-it department.

No experiences with the E46, so I’ll take your unfortunate word for it. :/

about the same time BMW was having HPFP issues.

also, our cheating diesel has burned through nothing more but tires, fuel, oil and a set of brake pads in the past 5 years.

and 1 emissions sensor. OH THE HORROR

It seems like they were hit and miss. Amazingly my cooling system has not belched coolant onto the pavement yet (although I suspect it’s getting close), but my sunroof shade has eaten itself.

Wait, you know I’m referencing BMW here, right? I was referring to the HPFP and hot-vee issues.

I would have said their worst turbo years were 1996-2005, the 1.8t engine they decided to put into almost everything. Very few owners used 0w synthetic oil and 93 octane gas, so the engines often met an early demise.

I’m mildly amused by the number of “Is BMW/Mercedes/Jaguar a foreign car” type searches.

I love this question when it comes up on the BMW forum I frequent. It becomes a battle in semantics between what is routine maintenance and what is a repair. My BMWs have been as reliable as any car I’ve owned, but that’s because I maintain all my cars very well.

Funny thing is, I don’t think it’s luxury, but it's premium. However, it is really disappointing to see CSX/TSX in the rest of the world as a regular Honda when these are premium vehicles for North America, and I don't even know if the North American platforms are used elsewhere.
